How Does Space-Gard Work?

    The Space-Gard whole house air cleaner removes dust and other irritation particles from your home as the blower fan in your furnace draws them to the tightly sealed air cleaner.  This clean air is then circulated through your furnace and back to the rooms in your home.  Space-Gard's highly efficient HEPA-type filtering media (similar in principle to those used in hospital operating rooms and other clean room environments) allows.  Space-Gard also provides more than 72 square feet of particle trapping surface through its pleated design.  That's the usable surface area equivalent to more than 31,20"x20" typical furnace filters.  This feature allows Space-Gard to have a low resistance to airflow and a very long service life, typically one year or longer.

The Space-Gard air cleaner utilizes a unique filter media - similar to that used successfully for years in hospitals, clinics, laboratories and clean rooms where the level of airborne particles must be kept near zero.  The three speed blower draws polluted air from the area, through the extended-surface, high efficiency filter media and exhausts air that has up to 98% of the pollutant particles removed.  Four filtration principles are used - straining, diffusion, impingement and interception.   This, plus the deep-space fold design of the media provides an unusually large filtering area for exceptionally high particle holding capacities.  An important extra benefit of this new fashioned air cleaner is the high-efficiency operation without the emission of toxic ozone.

The above photos graphically illustrate the highly efficient tobacco smoke removal capabilities of the Space-Gard air cleaner.  The high level smoke conditions illustrated were generated by burning tobacco over a 10 minute period with no room air circulation.  The Space-Gard air cleaner was then turned on and the first photo was take immediately.  In just 25 minutes, the continuos moke removal capabilities of the Space-Gard air cleaner practically eliminated the tobacco smoke from the room.
