Filters and Air Quality

IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT INDOOR AIR QUALITY

Indoor air is found to be up to 40 times more polluted than outdoor air.
Most people spend 80-90% of their time indoors.
50% of all illness is caused or aggravated by polluted indoor air.
The average person breathes 500 cubic feet of air daily.
There are up to 30 million dust and pollutant particles in one cubic foot of air.
The average home accumulates over 40 pounds of dust a year.

__

Although most pollutant particles are so small that you can't see them, many are annoying or even harmful to you and your family, and potentially damaging to your furnace, air conditioner and related equipment.  The standard throwaway filter or electrostatic filter in your furnace traps only an average of 15% of the pollutant particles.

A polluted home, or known as Sick Building Syndrome, can cause side effects such as headaches, eye irritation, skin irritation, nose bleeds, sinus irritation, respiratory problems, cancer, fatigue, nausea, depression, gynecological problems, dizziness, asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia.  These are after effects from chemicals and pollutants in your home such as Formaldehyde (found most commonly in your carpet), Nitrogen Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Ammonia, Carbon Dioxide, Benzine, Radon, Carbon Tetrachloride and Trichlorethylene. These are found in most ordinary homes.  Filtration systems such as a Lennox germicidal light can significantly eliminate these known pollutants and chemicals.   Other filters such as Space-Gard® Air Cleaner or the Lennox PMAC can remove items from bacteria to atmospheric particles.
